For Jason Collin:

"Well produced video that shows the capabilities of the 1200mm lens very well. I wonder how many of these lenses are sold each year and who are the clientele?"

This was covered in a review by Bryan Carnathan on the-digital-picture.com. The lens was originally an FD mount, but most were converted to the EF mount. There were also a few made specifically in the EF mount--about 2 per year, with no total production numbers available.

B&H has the lens. They are asking $120,000.

I got the NEOS Adventurers and they are great. The only thing to watch out for is not to get the water level up near the top two inches or so of the boots. And don't ask me how I know about this ;-)

I noticed you're shooting with the 7d. How do you like it? I'd rather stay away from a crop sensor, but it has other advantages over the 5d mkII.
Loved the article, and totally agree about SQ being the difference maker. thanks.

It would be interesting if you would toggle the preview on and off a few times during the tutorial. That would let us get a better look at the edits. I know that I can scroll back and forth through the video, but that's not as effective.

Pretty well! They are lightweight and have velcro fasteners at the top to keep out snow. Some models have gaiters too.

If I didn't use my backyard as a "studio" I wouldn't use my camera nearly enough to justify it's existence. Great article and couldn't agree more.

The habit here is to get out and look. Just like practicing with your camera to learn the tricks by looking what is around you you can snap shots of things others that are in the same will never think to see and ask where you went to get that shot.

Good stuff. However, the shutter speed depends on the waterfall. The top image certainly was not at 1 second. If it had been, the waterfall would be white with no detail. On small waterfalls, I experiment. Sometimes 1/4 to 1/2 second can give an "angel hair" look.

On huge waterfalls, a very fast shutter speed can freeze the water and give a sense of the power of the falls.

Thanks for expounding on one of my favorite subjects.

I have owned and used the RS Sport 2 for about 6 months, and consider it an indispensable part of my kit. I also use a tripod extensively, and love how easily and quickly I can change back and forth from handheld to tripod use and back. In addition the strap is attached at the bottom of the camera body rather than the top, so it's never in the way.

Great photography is about VISION not endurance or your travel budget. I walk the streets of Columbia, SC between 5:30 and 7:00 each morning and photograph what I see. No budget, except for the camera and tripod, no endurance except for walking in our heat and humidity. I have taken some really good shots and a few great ones in the years I have been doing this.
