Its innovative, patent pending design changes incorporates a a flat unified spider instead of the traditional triangular spider, making the tripod more compact and portable when folded.

"Other tripods claim short overall deminsion when folded but they are ALL bulky and fat around the legs union area.
The Benro Travel Flat Tripod not only can be shorten but also can fold flat, very good idea!

Only negative, it's a bid heavy at 3.1 lbs, but I guess if it can withstand 26.4 lb, it's OK with me."

"The big advantage to this tripod is that it weighs very little and holds a lot of weight. I've been using a 4 leg CF tripod for travel and am replacing it with this one. For the same weight - a couple ounces heavier, it's all aluminum with no fear of the dreaded carbon fiber crack sounds. The metal tripod leg inserts are a big plus but they and the extension tube add weight. Putting everything together in the case makes it just over 5 lbs while the basic tripod alone only weighs 3.1 lb. If you're looking to minimize, the basic tripod will lay flat in your luggage really well."
