The camera connection plate that comes with Capture™
is designed with a geometry that will fit into any Arca-Swiss-style
tripod heads. This includes tripod heads by brands like Wimberly, Induro, and Jobu.
Tripod
compatibility was a major consideration in the design of Capture. Arca-Swiss is often regarded as the golden standard for high-quality
tripod connection systems. Arca-Swiss geometry is simple and logical,
and Arca-Swiss-style heads have been widely used by professionals an
amateurs for over 20 years.

What types of tripods does Capture work with?
What kinds of straps can Capture attach to?
Capture™ is designed to attach to any strap or
belt that fixed to your body or any of your pre-existing gear. Capture
can attach to a strap with the maximum width of 3 inches (7.6cm).
Capture does not require a completely rigid strap (i.e. you don't need
special belts or backpacks) but it works better on straps that are
stronger and more secure (canvas, leather, ballistic nylon, etc). Most
commonly users attach Capture to belts and backpack shoulder straps, but
it can also be used with climbing harnesses, life vests, and many other
types of gear.
I'm an aggressive outdoor enthusiast. Is Capture going to work with all my activities?
Capture™ can adapt to just about any activity. Capture
users have taken their units downhill skiing, kayaking, hiking,
motorcycling, mountain biking, fishing and mud racing to name a few.
Other folks use Capture to free up their hands for pushing a stroller or
holding a walking cane. It's really up to you to decide what activities
you want to use it for... Capture will hold your camera firmly.
How much weight can Capture hold?
The quick release locking mechanism on Capture™ can withstand over 100lbs. of force.
This is more than enough to hold any camera/lens/battery combination
out there. The limitation you'll face is in the strap, belt or substrate
you choose to attach your camera to. On a backpack that has a lot of
weight in the back, a sternum strap, and a waist strap, you'll be able
to comfortably put a lot of gear on it (i.e. long zoom lenses, not just
camera bodies). A professional camera belt can easily support a number
of Capture units, each holding a body and a beefy lens. On the flip
side, a thin belt that rides below the top of the hips isn't going to
hold as much weight.
Will Capture work well with a battery grip, or camera bodies like the Canon 1D or Nikon D3?
Capture™ can absolutely hold professional setups or cameras with battery grips. However,
you should be cautioned about the ergonomics of using these setups.
Specifically, putting a battery grip (and a flash) on your camera gets
the center of gravity further away from the body, and makes Capture less
effective. Some people have found success using battery grips and
flashes, and that's great...however, we are not actively promoting
Capture as a tool for large body cameras because it is a matter of
opinion on how effective it is. Without question, the benefits of
Capture are diminished anytime your setup's weight ventures too far from
the base of the camera.
What are those tabs for on the camera connection plate?
Those
are there for photographers who like to use a hand strap. We wanted to
include as many features as possible with Capture™ to accommodate a wide
variety of shooting styles.
